Re-development
In February 2005, the Premier of Western Australia announced that “outstanding students should have the opportunity to attend a school that will inspire them to even higher levels of performance.” The development of Perth Modern School as WA’s only academically selective secondary school commenced and the State Government allocated over $25 million to upgrade the existing school buildings and to construct exciting new facilities to complement the vision of providing exceptional schooling for exceptional students.

New facilities include a lecture theatre, state-of-the-art library and resource centre, student cafeteria, performing arts centre, creative arts centre, a research centre, technology centre and a media studio. All areas are provided with access to high levels of electronic technology.

The Architects responsible for the design of the new facilities are Woods Bagot. Construction of the first stage is now complete with the library, lecture theatre, performing arts centre, cafeteria, creative arts and design centre, student services and administration offices now fully operational. The redevelopment has had a significant impact on the quality of our education programs and has provided our teachers and students with outstanding facilities. The next stage will ensure that some very outdated areas of our school will be transformed into modern, innovative facilities that will further enhance our educational programs into the future.

All construction and re-development work is being undertaken in a way that will have a minimal impact on existing buildings and will not disrupt the school’s educational program.
