Perth Modern School is Western Australia’s only fully academically selective co-educational high school. Entry to the school is only available by examination administered by the Gifted and Talented Programs Branch (GATE) of the WA Department of Education and Training. Application to sit for the examination is made via GATE and there are specific examination dates which are published on the GATE website:

The selective entry testing takes place at specified testing centres in the State. On completion of marking, scores are assessed and placements made. Perth Modern School convenes a Selection Panel to meet and decide on final placements.
