Communication

Ongoing communication between school and home plays an important role in the education of our students. Perth Modern School encourages parents to be involved and to regularly speak to teachers about their child’s progress. At Perth Modern School, a variety of methods is used to foster communication between school and home.

School Newsletter:

The school newsletter is published once per term and contains information about school activities, student and staff achievements, school excursions, visitors to the school, coming events and other relevant school and educational matters. The newsletter is mailed to the student’s postal address and is also available via the website.

Information Updates:

The school Information Updates are published twice per term and contain important information that needs to be communicated to parents in a timely manner. These are mailed to the student’s postal address and are also available in PDF format via the website.

Student Daily Notices:

Student Services co-ordinates a daily information update for students providing notifications about such things as sport training times, information about specific clubs and activities, payment details for excursions, student meetings and community service activities. The Student Daily Notices are distributed to students during their Advocacy Class.

Parent Nights / Days:

At specified times throughout the year, the school conducts afternoon and evening sessions for parents to talk to their child’s teachers about the curriculum, learning activities and parent concerns.

Reporting to Parents:

Written reports of students’ progress are issued in July and December. As well, teacher / parent talks are conducted to give further information on students’ progress at school. These talks can be organised by the teacher or on request from parents. They should be ongoing and not restricted to times in July or December.
