Perth Modern School has aced rival specialist tennis schools by producing a convincing win in the Herbert Edwards Cup for the second year in a row. Year 9 students Dylan Wood, Paul Burnett, Ben Hotchkin and Mitchell Gill were members of the champion tennis team that beat CBC Fremantle five games to one in the lower school final.

Abby Haselhurst, Simona Koncarevic, Alexsandra Markovic and Franka Dobbs were runners up in the Mursel Shield Grand Final. The girls played exceptionally well all day and lost to Applecross in a very close match.

This year the school had 18 tennis teams competing across four days to make the school the biggest non specialist tennis school in the State. Perth Modern School Physical Education teacher Kellie Trott said the team received specialist coaching and trained for ten weeks prior to the tournament to achieve this fantastic result.
