In its centenary year, Perth Modern School was the top performing public school in the academic table, finishing fourth in WA.

Perth Modern School students performed outstandingly well, with 314 WACE scores of 75 or higher and 18 students with an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank of 99 or higher.

The school won more Curriculum Council awards than any other school in WA (73 students won 91 awards), and two of its students, Hayley Pring and Camille White, have been accepted into the prestigious Oxbridge universities in the UK.

“We’re so proud of all the students. It’s nice to finish high in the league tables but really for us that’s the icing on the cake. We will continue to focus on all of our individual students and provide the best educational opportunities for them to develop into the future,"  Vice principal Val Furphy said.

"Our education is not just about the academic side of things – we want students to have fun as well as develop as individuals. We hope to move from strength to strength. We think if we take care of the kids, the rest takes care of itself," Ms Furphy said.
