Modelled on the 'Ethics Bowls' held in colleges in the USA, this competition involves students taking part in a series of philosophical debates on various topics. It is an intimidating environment - 16 schools compete in group discussions that are observed by parents, teachers and academics. They are marked by the leading philosophy lecturers in WA and are assessed on their clarity of thought, cogency, reasoning skills and ability to contribute to a group discussion.

This year the school was represented by:
Nina Bower-Crooke (Year 11)
Thabo Milton-Jonas (Year 10)
Dylan Penniket (Year 10)
Jamilla Giles (Year 9)
Despite the fact that our Year 8 representative had to withdraw at the last minute and we had to forfeit several rounds of the competition, we somehow still managed to finish in 3rd place overall. Nina Bower-Crooke was awarded the runner-up medal for the Year 11 Philosopher of the Year, and Thabo Milton-Jonas swept all before him in a critically-acclaimed display of philosophical reasoning to win the medal for Year 10 Philosopher of the Year. Each of our team members performed at a very high level to overcome our shortage in numbers and to place so highly.
