The Perth Modern School library is a state-of-the-art facility which has been recently completed as part of the school’s building upgrade. A welcoming and modern user-centred environment has been created to provide support and enrichment to the teaching and learning programs at the school.
The large collection of print resources includes non-fiction for both study and personal interest and a popular and constantly growing fiction collection. The library caters for all students with both quiet study and reading and group work areas. It is a highly organised and creative area that provides stimulus for studying, thinking and doing, for imagining, creating and learning.
The library provides relevant resources and technologies in tune with the latest methods of information acquisition. Computers with internet access are available for students to use in their research and / or homework tasks. Students have access to a range of on-line encyclopaedias and full-text periodical databases.
A staff of teacher librarians and library officers work closely with students to build skills in information literacy and manage the resources for optimum accessibility. They help students to become empowered as independent learners and knowledge builders. Library staff have developed lunchtime visiting speaker programs to enrich and extend student studying particular areas of interest.
Opening hours are 8.00am to 4.30pm school days and is the venue for Homework Club.
