Location of Commemoration Memorials and Honour Boards

Perth Modern School has two memorials and six honour boards.

Memorials

• The World War 1 war memorial was unveiled by the Lieutenant-Governor on Sunday 22 October 1922 and is located between the administration building and the oval. The names of 24 students who were known at that time to have died as a result of their service in World War 1 are listed on two panels. In 2020 the names of an additional five students were inscribed on a plinth which was fixed to the memorial.

• A stone seat built after World War 2 and located between the war memorial and the administration building commemorates the 119 students who died in World War 2.

Honour Boards

Physical Honour Boards

The school has five physical honour boards, all of which are located in the Beasley building.

• The World War 1 honour board was unveiled on the same day in 1922 as the war memorial and lists the names of the 147 students who were known at that time to have served in World War 1, including those who died. It is located on the south wall of the Main Hall.

• In 2020 a supplementary honour board listing the names of an additional five staff and 34 students who served in World War 1 was mounted next to the original honour board.

• The World War 2 honour board was built soon after World War 2 and is located on the same wall of the Main Hall as the World War 1 honour board. It lists the names of the 104 students who were known at that time to have died as a result of their service in World War 2.

• In 2020 a supplementary honour board listing the names of an additional 14 students who died as a result of their service in World War 2 was mounted next to the original honour board. A fifteenth name was added in March 2021.

• The name of one student who died during the Malayan Emergency and the names of three students who died during the Vietnam War are listed on an honour board in the corridor at the rear of the main hall.
