Downing wins House Swimming Carnival for the fourth year in a row
As soon as students walked off the bus and into HBF Stadium for the House Swimming Carnival, the House rivalry was intense. There were four contenders for the gleaming trophy: Brown, the “fastest and strongest” a.k.a. an army of blue smurfs. Downing definitely proved that they stood by their “strength in yellow” motto as an army of yellow minions (not literally) scrambled to the marshalling area. Parsons were indeed “flying high” off the diving and into the pool as soon as the carnival started and we were left “feeling the heat” in Sampson’s wake as they flew down the pool. The day was an amazing day filled with house rivalry, racing and lots of participation. In the end, Downing ended up as the winner, closely followed by Parsons, Brown and Sampson. No matter how anyone went, what they did or how well their house went, everyone had a great day and we all eagerly await the next inter-house event: the House Athletics Carnival.
