Perth Modern School congratulates Diya S. and Sara R., winners of the Awards Australia Outstanding School Student Award at the 2026 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards WA.

The award recognises young Western Australians who demonstrate exceptional leadership, vision and commitment to making a positive difference in their communities. Through their initiative, Elevare Education, Diya and Sara have supported migrant students to navigate new educational environments through mentoring, mindset coaching and transition support.

We are incredibly proud of Diya and Sara for this well-deserved recognition and the positive impact they are making in the community. 👏💙💛

🏒 Making an Impact on Ice! 🥉
Perth Modern School student Declan G. (Year 8 ) recently represented Western Australia at the U13 Phil Ginsberg National Ice Hockey Championship in Newcastle, New South Wales.

Competing against teams from New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, and a combined ACT/South Australia side, Declan and the WA team put in a strong performance throughout the tournament, finishing on the podium with a bronze medal.

What a fantastic achievement, Declan. We are proud of your commitment, determination and success, and the way you represented WA and Perth Mod on the national stage. ❄️🏒🥉

🎻🌟 From Perth Modern to the World Stage! 🇦🇺➡️🇬🇧 We are incredibly proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of former Perth Modern School student Ellie Malonzo, whose remarkable musical journey has reached another exciting milestone! 🎉 At just 16 years old, Ellie has been accepted into the prestigious Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, where she will study with internationally renowned violin teacher David Takeno. 🎼✨ Ellie’s talent, dedication and passion have already seen her: 🎻 Accepted into the Yehudi Menuhin School at just 13. 🎓 Begin studying at UWA at the age of 14. 🌍 Perform as both a violin soloist and composer with leading orchestras. Guildhall represents the next chapter in what is already an extraordinary musical career. Celebrating NAIDOC Week at Perth Modern School 🌿
Our students engaged in a week of meaningful learning, connection and celebration as part of our NAIDOC Week activities at the end of Term 2.
From assemblies, movement workshops and smoking ceremonies to bush tucker experiences and the creation of a collaborative school artwork, students had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and traditions.
A special thank you to Corroboree for Life, Whadjuk Catering, and Follow the Dream alumni, who generously shared their knowledge, stories and experiences with our students.

What an incredible showcase on July 2nd as our amazing Year 7 HASS students unveiled their museum exhibitions, each one shining a spotlight on a significant individual from the Ancient World! ✨

Our budding historians impressed us all, confidently sharing how perspectives on their chosen figures have changed over time, and walking us through their research journey like true experts. 📚🔍
