Bringing Wellbeing to the Forefront of Our Thinking

At Perth Modern School, student wellbeing is central to everything we do. We are pleased to share our Student Wellbeing Framework: Belong • Engage • Thrive, which reflects our commitment to creating the conditions in which every student can flourish — socially, emotionally and academically.

The framework provides a clear, shared language for how we support students to feel known, challenged and empowered across all aspects of school life.

Our Wellbeing Framework

  • Belong – fostering connection, inclusion and a sense of safety
  • Engage – encouraging curiosity, challenge and active learning
  • Thrive – supporting growth, resilience and overall wellbeing

The Student Wellbeing Framework aligns with our School Business Plan and the Department of Education’s Teaching for Impact, guiding the development of positive learning environments and strong, respectful relationships throughout our school community.

Our Core Beliefs

Wellbeing and learning are deeply connected.
When students feel they belong, engage meaningfully, and are supported to thrive, wellbeing strengthens and
learning deepens.
High challenge and high care must coexist.
Gifted students excel when high expectations are paired with responsive teaching, psychological safety and supportive structures.
Relationships are our most powerful lever.
High-impact teaching is inherently relational, and effective learning is strengthened through positive, trusting
connections.
Wellbeing is a shared responsibility.
Student wellbeing improves when there is a collective focus on belonging, engagement and compassionate support in everyday practice.
