2026 CAWA School Chess League Zonal 2 was held at Murdoch University’s beautiful, award-winning Boola Katitjin Building. We had a record-breaking 156 players, including 97 players from 36 primary schools (including 25 girls) and 59 players from 15 high schools (including 8 girls).

🏅 Perth Mod Shines at SSWA Interschool Cross Country! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ What an incredible day for Perth Modern at the SSWA Interschool Cross Country Carnival! Nearly 50 Mod students hit the course with determination, teamwork, and true school spirit. A special shout‑out to Matt M., who delivered a phenomenal run, winning the 15‑year‑old boys’ event with a standout time of 12:25. Many of our students also placed in the top half of their age groups, showing grit and consistency across the board. Our boys’ team also secured 9th place out of 16 schools in the 5×1 km relay, a strong result in a competitive field. 🌟 Celebrating International Cycling Success! 🚴‍♂️ Perth Modern School proudly recognises the exceptional achievements of Lachlan M., (Year 10) and Tobi Z., (Year 11), who recently represented Australia at the 2026 YSD International Track Series in Malaysia, returning home with an outstanding collection of medals and honours. Competing against elite international riders, both students played a pivotal role in the JM17 Team Sprint, powering their squad to gold on the opening day🥇 👏 As one of the youngest competitors in his category, Lachlan delivered a standout performance, finishing 5th in Sprint qualifying and setting a new personal best, an incredible achievement at this level. 🔥 Tobi continued his impressive form, racing into the Sprint final to secure a silver medal in a nail-biting finish decided by mere centimetres. 🥈He then went one step further, claiming gold in the Keirin 🥇and earning the prestigious title of JM17 Sprinter Overall Champion, complete

🏆 SSWA Intermediate Futsal Championships – Proud Moment for Our School! ⚽️ This week our Year 9/10 team competed in the SSWA Intermediate Futsal Championships, taking on some of the best schools in the state. After finishing 2nd in the North Metro competition, they earned their place in the state finals and represented us brilliantly. In a tough quarter‑final against Lake Joondalup Baptist College, the boys went 1–0 up early and held strong at 1-2 for most of the match. In the final five minutes they pushed hard, going down 1--5 but never giving up. To reach the state finals as the *only* non–soccer‑program school is a massive achievement.
