Vale Gordon Ewers (PMS Alumnus & WA’s Oldest Man)

The Perth Modern School community is saddened to share the passing of distinguished alumnus Gordon Ewers, who was Western Australia’s oldest man at 110. Gordon’s journey to Mod by ferry and tram more than a century ago marked the beginning of a life defined by learning, service, and integrity.

After graduating from Perth Modern School, Gordon dedicated his entire working life to public service through the Customs Department, where he served with diligence and humility for many decades. His commitment to his work and community reflected the values instilled during his time at Mod.

Gordon also met the love of his life, Alma Elliott, at Perth Modern School and the two Modernians went on to share more than 60 years of marriage.

We honour his remarkable legacy and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family.
