Congratulations to Year 9 student Tyler W., who proudly represented Western Australia at the 2026 Australian Youth Volleyball Championships.

Tyler competed as a Setter for the WA Black Under 15 team, helping his team secure an impressive bronze medal.

The result was particularly special, with Tyler’s team winning the only medal achieved by a Western Australian team at this year’s championships.

🏆 Basketball Success for Olivia 🏀

Congratulations to Year 9 student Olivia L who was part of the Willetton Tigers U16 Girls Division 2 team crowned 2026 Western Australian Basketball League Champions at Bendat Basketball Stadium on 13 September.

The championship capped off an outstanding season of hard work, teamwork and determination, with Olivia continuing to grow in confidence and skill throughout the year.

Congratulations to Year 8 Perth Modern School student Stella-Maria S., who delivered a fantastic performance across four events at the 2026 Hancock SC Age and Open Swimming Championships.

Stella-Maria competed in the 1500m Freestyle, 800m Freestyle, 400m Freestyle and 400m Individual Medley, finishing Top 5 in all four races and bringing home an impressive two silver medals! 👏

🌏🏆 Perth Modern Students Shine on the World Stage in China 🏆🌏 Congratulations to Year 10 students Hannah N. and Ava-Mei F. on their outstanding success at the 19th International Chinese Bridge Language Competition, held in Beijing and Tianjin, China. Representing Australia and Oceania on the international stage, Hannah and Ava-Mei were two of only three Australian delegates selected to compete, making their participation an exceptional achievement in itself. The prestigious two-week competition brought together 120 contestants from around the world and included cultural activities, masterclasses, written examinations, speeches and debates, all designed to test participants' Chinese language proficiency and cultural knowledge. ⚽️ Perth Modern Shines in the Perth Glory Secondary Schools Cup! ⚽️ This week, Perth Modern School’s junior footballers took to the field for the Perth Glory Secondary Schools Cup, a statewide 9-a-side competition featuring schools from across Western Australia. Our Junior Girls Team, made up of students from Years 7-9, delivered an outstanding performance under the guidance of Mr Scott Marshall, progressing all the way to the semi-finals and finishing 3rd overall. 👏🥉 The Junior Boys Team, comprising students from Years 7 and 8, also competed strongly in a challenging group. 🌟 Year 11 Student Alex H., Wins ECU Action Award at the WA Youth Awards 🌟 Perth Modern School is proud to celebrate Alex H., (Year 11), who has been named the recipient of the ECU Action Award at the 2026 WA Youth Awards. Alexander was recognised for his outstanding contributions across environmental volunteering, youth representation, community leadership and STEM innovation. His achievements include participation in WA Youth Parliament and WA Youth Week, leadership roles as a Mod Mentor and Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Youth Leader, and success in high-level STEM competitions. One of Alexander’s most notable achievements was leading a team in the NASA Space Apps Challenge, where they developed an app, website and satellite concept using NASA data to predict bushfire risk and movement. 🎤 Debating Success at the BP Debating Grand Final! The 2027 BP Debating season has come to an exciting conclusion, with Perth Modern School represented by two outstanding teams at the Grand Final. This unique competition challenges teams of two students to deliver impromptu debates, with just 30 minutes to prepare their arguments before speaking. Congratulations to our finalists: 🥈 Cygnets Division Meryem and Lana (Year 9) were named Runner-up Champions, finishing behind St Stephen’s School Duncraig. 🥈 Swans Division Mia and Vidaa (Year 11) were also named Runner-up Champions, finishing behind Guildford Grammar School.
