💙🩰 A Powerful Performance at YOH Fest 🩰💙 Last Wednesday evening, our Year 10 Dance students took to the stage at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre for YOH Fest, performing their original work, Beneath the Books. Inspired by this year's theme, "Health is Wealth", the piece explored the pressures of achievement, expectations and academic success, while reminding us that our greatest wealth is our health. Through their powerful performance, students highlighted the importance of balance, wellbeing, connection and supporting one another to thrive. 🧁🍰 The House Bake Off Returns! 🍰🧁 Yesterday, talented student bakers from across Perth Modern School brought their creativity, house spirit and culinary skills to the much-anticipated House Bake Off. The Staff Room was filled with an incredible array of cakes, cupcakes and biscuits, all beautifully decorated in House colours and themes. From eye-catching designs to delicious flavour combinations, students certainly rose to the challenge, making the judging a very difficult task! The Judges - staff members and the Year 12 Advocacy Captains -carefully assessed each entry on taste, presentation and creativity. The standard was exceptionally high, with students showcasing both baking talent and plenty of house pride. 🏆 Following judging, the baked goods were sold at lunchtime in support of the Bake A Wish charity, allowing the wider school community to enjoy the delicious creations while contributing to a worthy cause. 💙 Congratulations to all students who participated and

💙 Support the Zander (Alexander) Philogene Memorial Fund 💙 The Perth Modern School community is invited to support the Zander (Alexander) Philogene Memorial Fund by participating in a fundraising raffle organised by friends of the Philogene family. Zander, a member of the Class of 2022, tragically passed away from meningococcal earlier this year while on an overseas exchange. To honour his memory and lasting connection to Perth Modern School, funds raised will establish a Sphinx Foundation Scholarship in Zander's name, to be awarded to a Perth Modern School student. 🤖🏆 Perth Modern Students Excel at RoboCup Junior 2026! 🏆🤖 Over the weekend of 22-23 August, 45 Perth Modern School students represented the school across 11 teams in the RoboCup Junior Competition 2026, competing in the Soccer, Rescue Line and Rescue Maze categories. We are thrilled to celebrate an outstanding achievement, with six teams qualifying for the State Finals and two teams securing first place: 🥇 Open Rescue Maze Champions 🥇 Secondary Rescue Maze Champions The competition challenged students to design, build and program autonomous robots to complete complex tasks, requiring creativity, technical expertise and collaboration. 🎨🛹 Year 9 Visual Arts Students Inspired by Perth Artist Peter Ryan 🛹🎨 On Monday, our Year 9 Visual Arts students had the exciting opportunity to work with Perth artist Peter Ryan as part of their Semester 2 project. Peter, a contemporary artist known for his vibrant depictions of the Australian landscape and engaging character-driven works, shared insights into his creative journey, artistic ideas, techniques and career as a practising artist. Students gained valuable inspiration while viewing examples of his artwork and learning about his approach to artmaking. The session also gave students the chance to ask questions and receive individual feedback on their skateboard designs. They then put Peter’s advice into practice, experimenting with colour techniques as they began developing their own skateboard artworks. A big thank you to Peter for sharing his expertise and inspiring our young artists. We look forward to seeing these creative projects take shape
