Congratulations and well done to Thomas Willoughby in Year 12 who officially received his Queen’s Scout Award at Government House from the Honourable Kim Beazley AC, Governor of Western Australia and Chief Scout of Western Australia assisted by Lee Vesey, Branch Commissioner Venturer Scouts. This is the highest award you can receive at Venturer level (ages 14 to 18) in Scouting. The award was the culmination of three years of effort, including helping to run a weekly Cub Scout night, planting street trees with the City of Stirling, hiking in the Avon Valley, Rottnest and Byford, and for community service cooking and serving food which included planning and delivering three meals. His award included participating in a debate on the merits of graffiti as artwork, learning to ski black runs in Japan, and playing percussion in numerous venues as part of the 2017 Perth Modern European Music Your. He completed courses in First Aid, Initiative, and Leadership, and fulfilled the role of chairman of unit council at Wembley Downs Scout Group for over a year. Well done Thomas – Perth Modern is very proud of you!
