Perth Mod students embrace World’s Greatest Shave

As is becoming a strong tradition at Perth Modern School,  students Tyara Aung and Shaye Frost in Year 12 and Drew Dembo, Felicity Bayne, Julian Downie and Bella Reis Lodge in Year 9 as well as teachers Sarah Wickham and Yin Jiang shaved their heads for the World’s Greatest Shave in aid of the Leukemia Foundation.

Other students chose to have their hair spray painted in bright colours. The activities are part of a great cause: to raise money for leukemia research and to support families who have a member suffering from blood cancer.

Drew Dembo decided to shave his hair off and said: “I know a couple of people who have a family member suffering from leukemia and the financial troubles it causes is really hard to see. I have campaigned around my neighborhood and fundraised around $580 to help this great cause and hopefully help make the world a better place.”

Thank you to Salon Express in Mount Hawthorn who provided the professional team members to shave hair at Mod and Student Councilors who managed the event. Well done to all!
